Every Monday, 1:00-3:00 pm (except Bank Holidays)

The Altrincham Anxiety Group is a safe environment to share personal experiences
and coping techniques for the day-to-day struggle that anxiety sufferers face. The
main aim of our group is for members to feel comfortable as we understand how
nerve racking your initial visit to a new group can be.

This is a `drop-in group` and we encourage people to stay for the length of time that
they feel at ease, we never want members to feel obliged to stay for the full duration.
As group facilitators, we are able to draw upon theoretical knowledge teamed with
our own personal experience of anxiety to offer an empathetic
and relaxed environment.

Men and women of all ages attend the group and we emphasise that every member
is unique, some like to talk and share a lot, whilst others find it extremely beneficial to
come along and simply listen - how much you contribute is entirely up to you.

The group is a self-help group, (not a therapy group); the facilitators who run the
group are not therapists, (but they do have lots of personal experience of depression
and anxiety/disorders). The group will encourage and support you during the session
in taking responsibility for your own recovery and in your own exploration of
therapies/other forms of help, in an empowering way, in your own time. Group
members may share coping strategies or other services that have worked (or not
worked!) for them though and whilst this is very useful, always remember different
things work for different people, we are all individuals.

The group just uses a room at the church, the group has no religious affiliation.

Survivors Manchester is a survivor-led/survivor-run voluntary organisation that aims to create and facilitate a safe space for male survivors of sexual abuse and rape to work through personal and sometimes painful issues. Our work is concentrated on empowering men to make their own positive life choices and begin their own unique journey of healing. Being in contact with other survivors allows one to feel less isolated; feel connected and break the silence and legacy of abuse.

We work with guys however they want us to, the important thing is that they are in control of their journey; with support they can work out what it is they need; and they can help themselves to become the person they really want to be and not what they think others want them to be and so begin a journey of supported discovery and self-healing.
