Hey Jade, not from Glasgow nor have I ever visited, but am wondering if doing an internet search might come up with some answers?
Usually NHS Trusts have a website and you can sometimes provide links to documents saying how the CMHTs are performing.
If not, hopefully someone will come along and be able to talk from experience.
Thanks for your reply
It's actually pretty unusual to be able to find performance of CMHTs on the internet for most of them, but luckily Scotland is a bit more forthcoming with information and after a hell of a lot of digging around I have found something on the performance of Glasgow trust.
I would like some people's experiences though too, because I'm not too sure about trusting the trust's info/stats
HI Jade, just happened to see your question whilst browsing. I work in a cmht in glasgow and so will have a slightly different perspective from some service users, but I can give you some basic info if that helps. Cmhts in Glasgow are based in resource centres covering specific catchment areas, so your address in glasgow would automatically determine which one you would be referred to. ideally, if you are already involved with mental health services elsewhere it would be best to ask your key worker/ psychiatrist for a direct referral to the appropriate team (if you know which post code you will be living in, I can find this out for you). This way, your new team can access the information they need to plan your care. Otherwise, it's a case of going to your gp in glasgow and if they agree it's necessary they will make the referral. We also have primary care mental health teams in glasgow which sit between gps and cmhts and see people with mild/moderate mental health problems eg. Milder depression/ anxiety, etc. you can self refer to these and they can offer specific psychological therapies. Within cmhts you may initially see a CPN, OT, Psychiatrist or Social worker depending on the nature of the problem. If necessary other disciplines can become involved thereafter once your specific needs have been clarified. They can also flag up other resources in the community which may be helpful and can link in with other agencies if necessary. Let me know if you need any more info. Hope all goes well if you do go ahead with the move.
Yeah I'm aware of the postcode thing... Do you know of any CMHTs in Glasgow that are particularly bad/that I should avoid (I aim to view/rent a flat in an area where there is a good CMHT)... Or any that are good/areas that have good resources? Thanks!
Also I didn't know it was possible to refer directly however that's good to know - I'll make sure I get them to do it that way. Thanks
