I don’t know much about going private but have you looked at the MIND website. They have information there

I wanted to go private. There are a few private clinics in Nottingham. I filled in the online questioner and said I want to talk around issues around my schizoaffective disorder and I never got any replies from them. I sent requests to two private clinics and nothing. I also sent a request to this therapist I seen who deals with attachment difficulties and I heard nothing back from him. I did say I was a complicated case though.

I quit my nhs “ input” and went private.
The nhs cmht in my area treated me so badly and hopelessly.

After several years of their ridiculous and incompetent treatment and the
psychiatrist glibly saying “i’ll see you in six months” every time I saw her
I found the courage to complain

This went as far as the Trust who upheld 4 of my complaints.

Although quite expensive ( I have no health insurance) going private is the best thing
I have done.

I see a wonderful counsellor/psychotherapist and a psychiatrist who
phones every 2 or 3 weeks (no charge)

My GP knows I will never see anybody from the nhs mental health services
in this team.

Obviously it has to be a personal decision
But I don’t regret going private at all.

Good luck with your treatment and recovery whatever you decide.

Do you have a psychotic or affective illness? I think in my case private health care is reluctant to take me on. I think that would be the case for all people with more complex illnesses like schizoaffective disorder.

I have been diagnosed with major depression,
Avoidant personality disorder, dependant personality disorder.

I have now had added from the private sector,
General anxiety disorder (GAD), Rapid Cycling ( on the edge of but not) bi polar 2
aspects of OCD and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
ThePTSD is a direct result of the incompetence of my local nhs CMHT.

I’m afraid I can’t help with other Mental health illnesses.

Sorry jightmare57 I disagree a decent private psychiatrist will see anyone, they were fantastic with my mum

Pollypop I think we are in a similar situation to you regarding the CMHT they have caused us such distress that we too are ready to cut all ties and just deal with gp and private psychiatrist if needed

All we need is some drugs that will work

wifey2019, I’m so sorry you are in a similar position as I was.
As you say, they have caused so much distress.
This leads to more damaging mental issues.

nightmare57, wifey is correct.

Private healthCare take on all aspects of mental health illnesses.
I have checked with mine.
It varies from a single outpatient visit, across every situation and illness,
including inpatient care.

You do need to find somewhere reputable though.
