GF has mental illness maybe mania

stuck in a rut with this one...

me and my GF think she has Mania however, i think its just serious depression.

she says lets get it sorted and i keep saying i'll do my best for you and i'll try and get you an appointment with my doctors (Her village friends are nosey and the doctors are C***, and i have heard that from loads of people) and shes now saying she wants to sort the problem but the appointment wont happen, its not realistic, etc... i dont know what to do

i'll give a bit more background on her:

she has a repeated loss of appetite which fluctuates from day to day
she has a tendancy to oversleep or not sleep at all
she is a self harmer and frequently does solvants (god help me...)
her mother has cancer which is putting a lot of stress on her
she does not enjoy college and takes a dislike to nearly all subjects.
shes very negative most of the time, she even says she will probs die from suicide and will not live past 21

i don't know what to do and how to go about this, if her parents find out it will be worse, most likely they will shun her... (not in a religious sense, they are not religious...)

this girl is what i live for , she is my world and my life without her, i have no purpose.........

Sorry to hear that your girlfriend and your going through some harsh times. It sounds to me like she is going through some form of mental health problems and by reading the list it sounds like it could either be bipola or maybe borderline personality disorder.... However, the only way to get a clearer picture is to see either a specialists at your local community mental health team or seek help via your doctors.

as ive posted many times i think someone haveing support when going to a dr appointment to tell the dr what the situation is really like from someone who is close to the patient, is hugly helpfull.
writting lists and giveing examples of moods and behavoir helps the dr alot, and having someone to support in a positive way is best for all.
i was my dd voice when she simply couldnt speak, i was honest and brutally frank, she now has her own voice and i support only when needed now.
