Hello. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, Adult ADHD & General Anxiety Disorder.
To cut a very long story short, my father was curious about my odd behaviour throughout my childhood, nothing was done, but a GP recently identified mild autistic traits within me & put it on my medical records. (Exactly, no one really knows what's going on.)

Now that mild intro is out the way, let's talk anxiety.
I don't actually know what affects GAD has on my life.
All I know is that I feel permanently wired, extremely conscious of the self & others, I struggle with crowds & going to public places.
It's almost like I can feel people's energy as I walk by them.
When I don't have something to occupy my thoughts then my mind defaults to thinking about our existence, the Universe etc.
Some days I consider it a gift to have the capacity that I do, but the rest of the time I feel like I'm suffering.
Constantly banging your head against a question that you'll never have an answer to is distressing.

I could type more but this is only my first post, so I'll save it for later just in case I ramble off on a tangent.

Anyone else been diagnosed with GAD?

Welcome. Yes I have GAD and it is so debilitating. I have missed out on so much in my life. I can’t go back and regret it so have to look forward. I see a therapist twice a month so puts things in perspective so my wall will come down. The last two weeks have been horrendous due to family members but I must look forward. I am chock a block with a heavy cold and that is not helping either. Are you on medication. I guess you live in Durham. I am from the north east

Thank you for your reply, try not to regret, we are who we are & we can't help but try & make the best of that fact. Sorry to hear that you're having a hard time as of late. I can relate in a way, my condition has been aggravated by recent bereavement. I'm not after any sympathy I'm just stating a fact :) .
Not on medication currently, I was on Trazodone & Olanzapine most recently to treat my symptoms, but after a year or so they stopped helping, like all the drugs I've been tried on. Over the last decade I have been tried on about ten different drugs & I'm not sure if that in itself is starting to cause me issues now. Anyway, I hope you get rid of your cold soon.

I take 2mg diazepam and have done for years. These were the best thing since sliced bread back in the day. I know I am addicted but would rather lead a sort of normal life than constantly in anxiety. Sorry to hear about your bereavement as that won’t help at all. Have you tried therapy. I work in mental health and that makes things harder one face for work and one face at home. I know therapy is helping me but it is hard going
