My friend is agoraphobic, but also can't be left home alone for a long time, particularly overnight. The person she lives with has had to go away for a short while and she's not coping well. She keeps crying and can't eat or sleep properly.

I don't know what to do? She seems really stressed out and there is no one to go and be with her, if that would even help her in the long run anyway?

Any advice?

Would it be possible for you to phone her GP and explain the situation?

It sounds as if she needs something soon.

You sound a brilliant friend to want to know how you can help.

Take care of yourself too.

Thanks @Pollypop - I didn't know if they'd come out in this situation? I was planning on calling them tomorrow anyway but she seems to have stopped crying...for now at least. I'm really not sure - I'm hoping she is nodding off because she's been quiet for a while (Skype) - I know she really needs rest as her anxiety will be much worse if she is exhausted.

I guess this is like insane exposure in CBT - maybe it will be good for her in the long run, but it's obviously really awful for now.

No better tonight :( 111 will call back within 6 hours to her.

It's a catch 22 because I can't get to her to stay due to work commitments etc. and she is to frightened to leave the house if we fetch her. I feel a bit useless as she is scared and there is nothing I can do or say to help change that.

Don't feel useless. You are doing your best you possibly can.
You have kept in touch with her.
You have phoned 111.
You have come on here for help.

How long will she be alone?

Hope111 can sort something ----for both of you. Help and peace of mind.

Hi anxious girl,
Just wondering how things are going for both you and your friend.
Did 111 get in touch.?
If so, did they make any decisions or actions?
Hope you both managed to get some peacefull sleep,
Love Pollypop x
