Hi all,

My name's Dan, I'm 29 and from the UK. Having grown up with a stutter, I developed social anxiety at a very young age, something which i still have trouble with nowadays, even though the stutter is nowhere as bad as it used to be! Feeling generally anxious day to day is a struggle, some days are better than others!

As good as it is having friends and family to talk to about these kind of things, they don't generally understand as they're not in the same boat as myself, so hopefully here will be the place to talk with others who go through the same things, so we can all help eachother out!

All the best,
Dan

:welcome: @Dmuk90 to the forum and lovely to have you with us

Anxiety comes with each one of us at different rates and sometimes that can affect your speech more and I totally know how you feel..i wasn't born with a stutter but had two bad strokes that took use and everything from me for 4 solid years, I felt like a child starting all over again and the strokes left me with Todds-paralysis which takes my speech where I stutter but it doesn't hold me back and those who haven't got the time to understand was born with pure ignorance :hug5:

Hi Dan. I have a speech impairment too. I always feel like I am not being understood when I talk. I hate this feeling. I try so hard to talk normal. I have to talk very slow with people and then the communication is not always the best.

I seem to be placed around people who our hard of hearing-they just will not get what I am saying. I like writing. Seems better at communicating. Some people just our not listneing. So I sure hope you like the forum Love and hugs Jules

In all honesty, I'd be more than happy to walk around with a whiteboard and a marker pen 🤣😂
