had another psych appointment today and have finally got a diagnosis.

Personality disorder with major depressive illness...

Feeling positive in some ways, but terrified in others.

At least they have taken me seriously...i had got so desperate that i had decided that if they wouldnt help me to get better then ther wasnt any point in living.

Life sentence

presently personality disorder is pretty much a life sentence
BUT it does not mean treatments cannot improve function ing and recalibrate reactions. Part of the problem is that the mental health profession is not united in practiioner recognition of these problems even if the ICD 10 and DSM define personality disorders I think you should seek whatever psychologicaL treatments are available. The major depressive illness is more treatable as the mechanisms are understood but is often more difficult to treat where a personality disoorder is apparent. Don;t give up harrying the professionals to do whatever is possible
