Hi All,
Ive finally done something this week to try and get the right kind of help. For once I was completely honest with my Gp about my fears, feelings, and how this is all impacting on not just me, but everyone around me! Been referred to psychiatrist. Im scared to death, but think its what I need.

A brave step to take - I hope you are proud of yourself for doing that. It's good that you've been referred. It does seem scary seeing a psychiatrist - I found it terrifying but it did help to get more specialist suport. Take care

Well done mate,

I found it very scary first time round how was it for you?

It was good awareness to seek help and can only be good for you and others around you.

I am seeing the PSYCH on the 10th Feb to get a treatment plan, scared yes

You have taken the biggest step hopefully future steps will be smaller and supported

Hi there, and well done!

These things are scary but are never as scary in reality. The scariest thing I've ever done was to refer myself to the psychiatric hospital... I found myself sitting at 9pm in the corridor of a pre-victorian hospital and being told by the on call psychiatrist (my first contact with one) that they had a bed for me (with the look that they weren't going to let me out). I was petrified - but even this, once I'd got through the first night it was fine - the safe haven that I needed. I hope you find that a psychiatrist is going to provide you with the support that you need at the moment.

Good luck with that and best wishes,
Honey

Dont know how soon referral will happen. But im going back to see Gp 18th Feb, and still planning on going to support group 11th Feb. I was so anxious at the Gp Spaceman....i nearly walked out. But I didnt....so next step forward. I'll let you all know how I get on.

Gp has just put me on very low dose of Citaliprim as she said too high can push me the other way. She was very good....when i finally opened up.

I am so glad ive found this site though...given me the confidence to get help I need. Thanks all. :)
