Hi. I'm new to the group. I find it hard talking to doctors about how I feel so thought I'd try this.
I go to bed each night hoping that I dont wake up. Why do I feel this way? I'm married with great kids and grand kids. Got a well paid job.
I dont know how to be happy again.
Most of the time I hate interacting with people.

hi Jimbo :welcome: !

I would recommend talking to the Samaritans about that
which I used to do when I was suicidal
but it got to a point where I phoned the crisis team as well

there is help out there if you badger them a bit

the Samaritans are very good

I hope you find the forum helpful as well

Hi @Jimbo2021.
When you say you find it hard to talk to doctors, are you including therapists in that category? I think a good therapist will help you understand why you feel the way that you do. If you're including therapists, then I would make good use of this forum. Talking about one point at a time would be helpful in getting the answers that you need. Good luck!

Listening to good, motivational and uplifting songs on youtube or online helps me. Music is therapeutic. Listen as often as needed.

Do a hobby. What do you enjoy and love doing? Is it cooking, baking, singing, gardening, doing arts and crafts? Whatever it is, do it for it will make you happy and satisfied. Have the time to do it every day.

Well it depends is the answer. I think even if we have a happy enough life with people who love us, a nice home and steady job, it is a fact that life is hard. We can be on a treadmill and it just keeps on moving taking us nowhere in particular. When you are in bed and going to sleep you can consider that time as your respite. Maybe you are just silently saying to yourself I'm tired of the responsibilities that I carry? On the other hand, if you are in any way like myself and others
on here and you would think to make sure your life does come to an end, then maybe there is a real problem. At times I have known I am in trouble because I wanted to harm myself. Once when hospitalised I was stating I would harm myself. So hopefully staying around here for a day or two will help you figure out where you stand with it all. And then make a decision about what to do next.

Maybe the things you have aren't filling the void inside? Nothing wrong with a great family and financial security, but apparently there are things you're missing that give you fulfillment?

I have a great-although very stressful-job, material possessions sufficient for my needs and most wants, a good wife, etc.. But I'm not fulfilled to the extent I can't wait to get up in the mornings. I was that way once, it diminished over the years.

Robert Byrne once said, 'The purpose of life is a life of purpose.' and that's so true.

Victor Frankl once said, 'Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.'.

Great quotes to ponder on. Perhaps you like I need to find more purpose in your life, something that fills the void? If you can't do it with your job or family, find something else-a hobby or whatever. Every further day wasted without purpose is a day you can't get back. Good luck.
