Hi I'm Adam, I'm new here. A few years ago I stopped a friend committing suicide, and afterwards I felt useless, as I hadn't been able to spot any signs and hadn't been able to help them. After a while I cleared my head and got myself sorted. And then a few days ago I stopped a second friend committing suicide and these feelings are all coming back

Hi Adam. Welcome to the forums. You feel sad because you didn't know your friends were so bad off? But you stopped them from committing suicide, so that's very good. Many times people will hide the way they feel. Don't feel bad you didn't know. You are a good friend.

Hi and welcome
Wow you saved their lives, that says a lot about you as a friend you should be so proud of yourself x
There are many people put there who have committed suicide and noone saw any signs.
That's so hard for their loved ones to accept and not blame themselves.
I was that close just over a year ago the only person that actually see what was about to happen was my support worker. I shut everyone out. I was minimizing everything that was going on. Noone could have known.
So yes you have saved 2 lives that's huge

Hi Adam

As others have said, you couldn't have known. When people are seriously thinking that way, they don't let others know, especially people in a position to stop them. It's buried deep inside. Unless you can read minds there is NO way you can know.

Forgive yourself. It's ok to not know everything.

(sorry if anything I've said has upset anyone).

Hi Adam
Just remember, that people hide their feelings very well, and unless you're a mind reader, you wouldn't and couldn't have known! You did the amazing thing of saving 2 people! Don't be so hard on yourself!
