Feeling drained & hopeless

I'm at a point where I'm feeling 100% drained all the time and that nothing interests me. Normally, things play out in one of two ways: My wife asks if I'm okay and if there's anything she can do to help. On both occasions, I cannot even answer her. In my mind, it's a scenario that's played out so many times before, I just cannot be bothered to give an answer. I don't see the point and I hate myself for it especially when it creates tension afterwards. During one heated argument, she told me she feels like a single parent with everything she does around the place. If she can't understand me, what hope do I have?

I've got no escape. I can't "unplug" because I also have a young child and anyone with kids knows it's hard to find me time. I feel very alone and despite having family to call on, I very rarely do as we do not keep regular contact and to be honest, they just wouldn't get understand (more so because of covid restrictions). Everyone is under the illusion that I'm a happy parent but it's all a lie. I've also lost my job which just piles onto the mountain of self hatred I'm experiencing.

I should also clarify that my wife and family (for the most part) do not get along. Last summer was messy and things were said which bit not only me, but her as well. 18 months later and my wife still has not spoken to my dad or my sisters. It's a shit situation and I'm tired of being the middle man.

What is the situation with the seteraline? You were tapering off. It sounds like you have so much going on so I understand you feel overwhelmed. It is really hard when the people in our lives do not understand but we will understand. You are not alone as we will support you.

You're right, I was tapering off for around 3 weeks up until my daughter started nursery on 17th August. Since then, I have been withdrawing / been feeling withdrawal effects like tiredness, irritation, low mood / energy amongst other things. I find my memory is heavily impacted as well. As far as medication is concerned, I'm not taking anything at the moment. A user on here suggested I look into mood blockers (I think that's the term, not sure). I'm going to give the doctors' a phone tomorrow to rule out the possibility of bipolar. I'm not sure where to turn at this point as I just feel like dead weight in this household.

I think you may be experiencing withdrawal. I am no expert so this is just my opinion. Mood stabilisers could be helpful. I think it is really good you are going to talk to your doctors tomorrow. I am sad you feel a dead weight. You cannot help feeling this way. It is not something we can control.

There's definitely something that doesn't feel right. I slept for 13 hours last night (after putting my toddler to bed at 7.30pm) and still woke up feeling tired. I also get dizzy whenever we play. I was on Sertraline for 8 months so maybe some long lasting effect has been left? I'll have to see what the GP says tomorrow.
