Don't get me wrong I love my family and extended family but it's such a drain on my energy, mental and physical. It's bittersweet almost. But sometimes you've just got to go take a nap to escape it all.

Yes, it can be very stressful when family members you haven't seen for awhile ask you how you are doing, and everyone else seems to be happy and have everything all together in their lives. I always feel so ashamed because I feel like a failure compared to everyone else in my family. Sometimes I take the risk of saying that I am (still) struggling, and then often get met with silence, or "we'll pray for you," and I know that no one really knows how to deal with me.

The big thing is now I'm the last of my siblings to still be single. So im starting to get hit with the "you're next" and "you need to meet a guy" crap.

I get all that BS too. Pisses me off. I don't go to any family functions anymore. They can stick their judgement and expectations. All my cousins are having babies, even ones younger than me. "Your next" - piss off. Grr.

I have been invited to a family wedding but I can't face it. Yeah if I was working, and feeling better etc - but can't face it at the minute. It is quite far.

Another reason is that I am sick of attending weddings as a single man. Especially when everyone else has a partner. It is an odd feeling, and I don't like it.

Oh no! That is the last thing you need. That is absolutely none of their business!

I am the oldest child in my family, and still single. I'm sure many of my relatives wonder if I am secretly a lesbian. I'm not, but if I was it would be totally frowned upon. I would be the black sheep of the family and some of them would probably pray for me to be healed.

The big thing is now I'm the last of my siblings to still be single. So im starting to get hit with the "you're next" and "you need to meet a guy" crap.

ARGH!!! family gatherings!!
I love my family, especially my new grand daughter to bits but the stress of travel ( I am improving) and of socialising is the pits. I’m still feeling stressed out after an event last weekend. If I don’t visit though I don’t see the people I love.
