Finding it hard to explain time off to people I have spoken to in the past. Will be doing the school run - morning and afternoon for the next week or two. Trying to be helpful to my son's mother so have offered to help out as means she can get to work earlier which suits her. From my side it's getting me around people and stops me from hiding.

Have already blurted out to his teacher last Thursday about my mental health as I wasn't able to take in simple (or so I thought) instructions. In retrospect I had put too much pressure on myself to be sociable with my boy and other kids.

Thanks Fairy Lu,

I suppose personal issues can cover a few bases. I'm just worried about people delving in too far. It's a small town, I have a nosey neighbour, the standard line where he says the other neighbours are nosey when he is the nosey one himself. He is ok but can talk, I hurried myself to my class earlier when he was asking about me. Luckily had a valid reason to scram. Feel that I'm running away from people all the time when things get too personal.

Don’t think of yourself as any different from the people around you. They all have their personal flaws and struggles too.

Thats true Esther,

Had that discussion last night with someone. Basically why would they care and they wouldn't notice your flaws as much.

Right now I know what incorrect thinking is but it's quite overwhelming so its got a load of power. Still doing most things I commit to despite this.

I've had quite a bit of experience with this kind of stuff at my workplace.

used to always take time off for My mental health but then lie about the reason: having a cold, stomach troubles etc. That's what really broke me. The deception and the guilt and shame associated with it. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore so I just told them the truth. They understood and we've been collaborating on achieving a perfect work-stress balance ever since. My friends have been very supportive, even my family which was something I never even considered.

if people repay your honesty with sincerity then everyone will be stronger because of it. Don't fear judgement, all you want is to be genuine, and there's nothing wrong with that.

hope it shakes out for you,
Pale

I am a bit clearer in my mind than I was at the time of my post. Not as ashamed of it and less likely to blurt out things. Have upped my propranolol to 160mg from a previous 80mg. Very sedated feeling and cut off however things are getting a bit better I think. Hopefully the sedation feeling goes a bit and I can relax normally again soon.
