I gained a lot of weight and very quickly even on a low dose. They say ten mg is when it increases your appetite but i was on less and gained two stone in three months. Its not just appetite but meetabolic changes i believe. I ate so much and craved junk. I was unable to control my eating. Great for sleep and no other side effects. Great med apart from weight gain.

I don't remember the dose. It was while I was in the State Hospital. They had me on so many meds.

Zeprexa, that is known as Olanzapine I was on it for three years, it cause me kidney damage and put my heart under strain, I came off it cold turkey because it made me feel so bad. They did blood tests when I ended up in hospital with psychosis and they found kidney damage, only slight but nevertheless and they told me my heart was weak because of it.I was on 5mg from start to finish. They said I wasn't to take it anymore and put me on Amisulpride instead which does it's job and no serious side effects so far unless you count weight gain.Sorry I know it is said the drugs don't affect everyone the same but these are serious side effects.

That's really bad, although I know all meds do have their risks. Did you find it helped with symptoms over the 3 years?

Well before the Olanzapine I was on flupenthixol which caused severe akathisia as a side effect for 15 years which is why they gave me Olanzapine,it is like the antidote to that side effect, so it stopped that side effect from Flupenthixol which I came off, so initially I felt much better but after I felt physically ill too and my mental symptoms like depression, anxiety and hearing voices were still quite bad,If I had known I never would have agreed to take Olanzapine ever.
