Here we come again...

ESA people ATOS have written to me again to suggest that i have another medical assesment. I came home to find the forms for ESA waiting for me to fill in.... After taking the first one to tribunial and winning it im wondering do i have to do alll that again for them to write to me in another six months or a years time.

.... I do not totally understand why they've written to me again, especially as nothing has changed infact its got worse. The only change is that im due for psychotherapy in june.

I do not know if others are experiencing the same or similar issues to me but i recon that the DWP are wasting their time and money in seeing if im ok now to work when six months ago i wasnt. The only difference this time is that if i have to go to a medical again then i will take an advocate from mind with me or a rep from mind.....

De ja vou all over again!!! I wont even comment on the fact that im getting paranoid anxious and scared of what they will say when they recieve my ESA form. I really resent putting down for a stranger to read what i suffer from especially to the DWP.

I'm not on ESA, yet. I still get income support but need a sick note every 3 months. But god that last month all I can think about is what if the doctor won't give me one, what if they stop my benifits. What if I have to get a job and get really ill again.
And the whole time I feel like crap for living off the state.

But we have to remember there are people out there who want to cheat the system its a catch 22 sadly.

Can you get a letter from your gp asking them to back off?

No, I don't think you can. But it'd be worth seeking advice from your local CAB or equivalent specialist benefits adviser in your area.

Everyone claiming Incapacity Benefit will be interviewed between now and 2012, perhaps sooner because of the change in government. The potential for clawback savings in this area is immense and it's going to be a stressful time for everyone.

Your best bet in these situations is to have as many professionals behind you as possible to support your claim.

maudikie.

I had a lot of trouble with the claims for my son and had two appeals many years ago. Then when the wanted to pay Benefits into my bank account and a joint one with my son, because I had P.of.A. they sent me the forms four times. I wrote back to them in quite a firm way, and it stopped, I had been having them paid in for years before that anyway.
The people working in the department dont understand mental illness, but it is advisable to take a note from the doctor who is treating you to say that you have an on going condition. A solicitor might also help, but I am unsure of what the new arrangements are for financial assistance with this now. It has recently been changed. I should certainly either take someone with you or arrange for someone, perhaps an advocate to go and represent you.
