I forgot large parts of my childhood which my brother reminds me about from time to time. Its infuriating not being able to remember really important events.

I have had about 20 sessions of ECT throughout my life (12 sessions the first time and 8 the second). Unlike most people, my memory loss was very minimal (I can still remember the jokes the anaesthetist was telling me as he was administering the anaesthetic). I remember feeling a little bit disoriented afterwards and having a slight headache.

Both times ECT really brought me back from the brink, as it was a case both times not if I'd make an attempt on my life but when and if I'd be successful. I also noted in both cases it took my voices away for up to six months (which was helpful). If I had to have it again or it was recommended as a form of treatment, I'd definitely have it. For me it was a literal lifesaving procedure.
