hiya, im suffering from an eating disorder. I have my good days and bad days. I have been told I have bulimia but I dont binge. I eat less or normal amounts of food (depends) and purge regularly. on a good week, it can be once a week but on bad weeks, it can be numerous times every day. im not really sure what I have, ive looked at symptoms for both anorexia and bulimia and I have most of them. im struggling at the moment. my body is very weak and sometimes I find it difficult to walk, my hair has started to thin and fall out, I sometimes can bleed spontaneously and have really bad stomach pains regulary. I have very low self esteem and Im hardly ever feel hungry, my energy can drop very low instantly. I was just wondering if anyone else has suffered from some of these symptoms?? and what I need to do to overcome my bad days?? ive been getting better recently but last week, I relapsed and started purging again.

Hi and :welcome:

Just wondering if you are under an ED specialist, and if so have they checked you out physically? If not I would go and see your GP and explain what is happening, spontaneous bleeding in particular sounds worrying.

Your energy will drop if you're not eating much, I have had this blood sugar crashes, and like you I had very weak muscles and was unable to walk much or get up from the loo without holding onto something.

I think try not to beat yourself up if you have a bad day, it is up and down in ED recovery. Did anything happen to trigger the slip last week, and do you have someone to talk to about what is going on in your life? As that may help you to cope with your feelings instead of bingeing/purging.

If you're not getting treatment at the moment (I know ED referrals can take ages) maybe have a look on the B-eat website.

I would post the link but my posts are being pre-moderated if I post links, but should be easy enough to google.

Thank you so much for replying. im not undergoing any medical treatment at the moment. I did go to the doctors but I didnt feel like they had taken my issue seriously. I find it really difficult to explain to people how im feeling. some of my peers do not know about the illness and they sometimes say things that really drag me down and it upets me, I think thays what triggered it last week. I perform everyday and I often overwork myself so thats another trigger. I have a few good friends who I talk too and they do help at times but they are running out of options to suggest. Thank you so much for the advice I will have a look on that site.

I hope you find it helpful, they have a helpline as well, hopefully they can advise on how to get your GP to take you more seriously....or is there another one you could see in the same practice who might be more understanding? Some doctors are clueless about EDs or think it is all about weight.

If there is someone you can take with you that might help. Also meant to say you're probably deficient on vitamins/minerals might be an idea to take a multivit supplement - it's not a substitute but it might help, but really really go and badger your GP or change practices, it's not healthy to be having that physical stuff going on they need to help you. You take care  and of course offload on the forum as much as you like. x
