I was just wondering whether anyone follows a specific diet to help them with their depression. Aparantly foods with omega 3 and B vitamins are good.

Also, I find that eating healthy is really expensive, how do you manage a healthy diet when it costs so much?

Yes. I try to eat a snack every few hours. If I get hungry then my mood will drop. This will also prevent me from overeating at meals which can make me depressed. It also helps maintain a good energy level.

I take multi vitamins and Omega 3 Fish Oils Pill.

I try to eat a diet of nuts, whole grains, fruit, salad(not a fan of many vegetables), and protein. I stay away from most processed foods, candy, soda, alcohol, and any fast food.

That tends to do great things for my mood and overall energy level. Buy in bulk so it is cheap over the long run.

Yes it is best for me to eat regularly so I am not hungry. If I don't eat properly or enough I get very anxious. I eat lots of fruit, salad, and have vegetables of some sort with most meals.

I hardly ever eat takeaways or highly processed foods for my meals but I do like to eat some "bad" food because I think some sugar is good for your mood. I always eat breakfast too and make sure that it is filling. On top of this I take B vitamins, Vitamin C, Magnesium, calcium, zinc, and 2 tablespoons of cod liver oil (it's orange flavoured so it doesn't taste so bad.) Alcohol and excess fizzy drinks make me feel shit too.

I think eating as healthy as you can afford and exercising as much as you can is excellent for treating depression. I've noticed the healthier I eat and the more I walk the better I feel. Also I believe there has been studies done in prisons about giving inmates a multi vitamin and the incidents of violence have fallen.

I just googled this for you, glanced at it, it looks like it might be good. Depression Anxiety Diet - A Natural Depression Anxiety Alternative Recovery Plan
