I think it would depend upon the MH diagnosis as to whether it was influenced by physical illness.

i have 3

physical conditions but depression came 1st though when i 1st became diagnosed with crohns disease in 1987, because no 1 knows the cause of crohns disease the question of stress was high on the list, i think that having depression hasnt helped the physical condition though because a lot of people with crohns do a lot better 4 them selfs generally i think. i got diabetes in 2005 but thats very much under controln then i got diagnosed with ostoprossis in 2006 which really surprissed me @ age 44 but my mums got it that i just take 1 tablet once a week, with the crohns disease i have an ileostomy since 95 which can cause great anxiety, they say lots of people have 1 n yet i've never meet another person with 1, it can b awful if it breaks which is a common accurance, i also have had endless operations which i'm sure if u werent depressed b4 u certainly would b after all the treatment, my doctor did say once it would b easier 2 deal with cancer, but i find depression has been the hardest 2 deal with because with physical conditions there r usally practical soluationsCOLOR]

I have a serious physical condition too & that started around the same time as my first memories & experiences of bipolar & bpd. The illness has depression as a symptom but i've never known if it was part bipolar trigger or co-oincidence

My friend she claims 7 disabilities 8 if you seperate schitsoprenia and depression.

She tends to say the problem is the physical ones

She went to a class to teach english as a foreign language and said she had to leave due to an asthma attack, seems to me if stress makes you hyperventilate wiith asthma you willl have an attack.

She's also got curvature of the spine which she says prevents her using the bus. know that if i get tense on a long train journey i have back problems

I've always been into the idea of things interacting, i'm worrying that the meds are starting to give me physical ilnessses, i'm also worried all my inner city gp is concerned about is me been compliant with meds

My answer to that is YES, definitely. I think it is precisely that. I have an illness that makes me very depressed. It is recognised by the doctors, specialists etc. So i think that this is a very strong case. But everybody is different

Defintely - I would rather be physically ill dan depressed. People see physical disability and ask how you are but depression they just - pull yourself together mate.

i wouldnt want either If there was a choice, the people that know about any of my conditions never ask "how I am" people have said to me I just forget or presume that you are coping
