Do I have a mental health disorder?

Sex: male. Age : 18.
Hi, I have a few symptoms that I would like to get looked at regarding my mental health:
- I have a very addictive personality (have been addicted to exercise(diagnosed anorexic for 2 years but not anymore, strangely my diagnosis and behaviours had no link wight food, was just entirely exercise), gaming, schoolwork and for a while I went through a phase of having to do the same thing at the same time everyday). Was also diagnosed with OCD at same time of anorexia but no longer have issues with this.
-I used to be very clever ( straight A* at GCSE and straight A at AS level) but suddenly have lost motivation and commitment to my studies
- Generally I love being alone, even from my family and I generally dislike most people, even if I don't know them.
- I have noticed alongside my loss of motivation., a drastic reduction in my ability to concentrate and even remember stuff( which I have always been exceptional at before). Letters can sometimes jumble up in words and words can appear in a different order in a sentence.
- I used to care very much about how people saw me but now it's the complete opposite and I don't really care at all.
- I don't really feel any emotion, don't remember feeling scared, love, happiness and have no real ambition or goals for my future.
- I hate being at college and avoid any social interaction if possible
- But I have the ability to socialise and am generally good at it, I constantly get asked out and have many people who consider me their friend, I just always choose to avoid them out of choice. I generally am better at talking with people who are older than me and when I am put in a social situation I don't curl up into a ball, I embrace it and handle it fine, which is why no one really has any concerns for me.

I was wondering, and I understanding that this information is limited and you may have more questions, if I have some kind of mental illness and whether I should go see a doctor. Thank you for your time

Hello Jayjay and welcome,

I too would go with what Nikita said and go to your GP to have tests done.

I don't think what you are describing is a mental health disorder but then again I'm not a professional.

Good luck with your search for answers.

Hello, thank you for your quick response, I am sure that my anorexia is not coming back and is past me but perhaps I have and always will have mild OCD, off topic I am seeing a doctor at the moment over some breathing issues I am having and he mentioned thyroids could be a cause for that too, similarly to how you mentioned it could be a cause of the symptoms I mentioned, maybe this is all linked, there are some people in my family with this condition.

As for depression, I have never had this before but it could be an explanation, how do you know if you are depressed?
