Hi I am being discharged from the mental health team, to my gp. Has anyone had this happen to them and did it make you lose your benefits, (ESA and Pip). I don't feel great, ( diagnosis is generalised anxiety disorder depression and psychosis btw) still have voices and am scared of being around people in a job, but the mental health team say I am OK as I never committed suicide, though I said I am suicidal. They always say I am ok, so there's no point seeing them really, but I don't want to have to be around a lot of people, so I am worried about getting a job. I keep hearing people say nasty things to me then they say it's my illness, but I'm sure sometimes people really do not like me. I got bullied at work and others confirmed that, I was sacked but the mental health team think I imagined it all. I really didn't imagine or hear false voices, it was that they genuinely hated me. Sometimes you are not just being paranoid, they really are out to get you. I don't seem to be likeable and I got bullied at school too. Violins out! Thanks for any replies

I was discharged, and I have to go to a ESA assessment. Honestly, I think it is a bit of a lottery but this is only my first ESA renewal.

I was discharged 4 years ago, and have been in receipt of DLA and ESA support group all through that period.

but the mental health team say I am OK as I never committed suicide, though I said I am suicidal.
Wow! To me that seems as harsh as the Dunking test for being a witch!

Well, they will ceratainly try to fell you on any grounds they can think of. That's why it's wise to seek help in filling out the forms from people who are experts, like the CAB, or the Benefits & Work website.

It helps if any problems you put on the forms, relate to diagnoses. I suppose I'm lucky in having so many.

Thanks. I'm so sorry they are doing this. It's so dumb as the more ill I am the less likely I am to feel OK to go and see my gp and I was not planning on going to see them about voices as they didn't seem interested last time and had to wait 3 weeks for appointment. I will now make sure I go and inform them I am still ill, it sounds like a good idea. I have a pet too! I wonder if your gp could help you appeal? Thanks for the warning. The ridiculous think is that the most I'll will avoid the mental health team like the plague and certainly not tell them they are ill as they wont trust anyone!

It's not a discharge if it is compulsory to see the gp that is sectioned. I would sue them for keeping you detained so long and for in your own words not improving your health.
My doctors complain when I don't need to see them - the CQC don't care and neither does the MP.
