How long is someone Ill before a proper diagnosis is given? I think if my loved one was given a clear diagnosis he maybe more likely to accept the fact he is ill. He is being prescribed antipsychotics but has reduced down to a low dose not believing he is ill! I fear it’s a downward spiral as the dose is not treating his psychosis and he is still having paranoid delusions!
he has been told he has classic psychosis symptoms but he doesn’t believe this, surely the mental health team should be more clearer to make him realise his illness and more stricter when it comes to reducing meds especially as he has been ill for 8 months now? At a loss as to what to do now, I feel like I am watching someone destroy their whole family but can’t do a thing about it!
