Mental Health Celebration Invitation: to perform Music, song, dance, and display art, craft, poetry, stories

Everyone is welcome!
In Devon, 29 March 2014.
A celebration of the skills and creativity of people who suffer mental illness!

A huge venue is booked with lots of rooms, two stages; one very rock and roll, the other intimate and relaxed. All mental health clients and their supporters and mental health staff are invited to attend and/or submit something creative or join in singing, playing music and dancing.

This celebration is part of the Time To Change Campaign to remove the stigma of mental illness. On the day, there will be several unpaid Mental Health Professionals in attendance to offer support.

The event will be in the daytime and also the evening, people can come and go as they please. There will be music sheets to share for singers and musicians of any kind (lyrics with chords written on) for anyone to join in. There will be some opportunities to perform solo or in a smaller group, by prior arrangement, including performing your own original songs. The theme is celebration, but there will be some room for thought-provoking and less upbeat tunes. Most of the music will be well-known and cheerful, offering a cheering and inclusive feel to the performances.

Please private message me if you have any interest and I can give you more information and discuss any concerns you may have. Please let me know if you hope to attend, and if you have any particular performances or artistic displays you plan to bring.

The event now has a facebook site; Kink in the Link. The site is under continuing development as more musicians and artists are getting involved!

I'm in Devon and I've had a whole year of weekly DBT lessons for my BPD. We held the celebration (at the start of this thread) in March 2014, then several performers went Xmas carolling Dec 2014, and now in 2015 we are booked to perform live music in various elderly care homes! Power to the mentally ill people!!!
