If you are having difficulty getting a mortgage put your list on the Local housing list. Also there are many organisations which give mortgage advice. You could locate them on the net, or ask your Bank.

I saw something the other day which leads me to think that a great deal of Devon comes under South Hams.

Yes, South Hams, South and North Devon and Devon East are the 'official' areas. I live in N Devon, and complain about everything having an Exeter focus. Better services there, more choice, etc etc......
