Does having a favourite food such as ice cream or chocolate help alleviate the effects of depression,
sometimes I cannot eat when I am way down,
how does it affect others ??
Do folk have a favourite comfort food ???

lack of will to eat

Sorry to hear that my friend ??
Is there no food, maybe curry or pasta that could tempt you to eat more ??
even fruit or puddings if you can manage..

I comfort eat with a lot of sweet stuff like chocolate, cakes, biscuits when my mood is low although it doesn't make me feel any better afterwards as I feel terrible for eating so much rubbish

Messymoo i am completely relate to what you wrote. My eating patterns are terribly erratic , one day i will eat too much, lots of rubbish - chocolate, cake, ice cream, bread the next day i might eat very little maybe just a piece of toast all day. There is generally no patten either, if i feel very low it can go either way.

I do on the days i sort of feel able to manage eat fruit, yoghurt and things that are much better for me.

I dont know why i find myself heading towards rubbishy stuff, i think at times i consider it a comfort but then afterwards i either feel sick or guilty for having eaten that type of food.

Yes I have a comfort food and that would be chocolate brownies with ice cream. That always helps me elevate some of my depression . Yeah its hard for me to eat when im down and out too but i know that i have to put some food in my system.... but it didn't help that boston lost the nba championship. Just a little light humor to lighten the mood

I am finding I either stuff my face with cakes and chocolates or don't eat a thing.
I've gone to feel guilty about eating recently, and excercising off any calories I eat. I have previously had an eating disorder so trying very hard not to go back there... Didn't eat yesterday though and eaten 200 kcal today and burned off 300 kcal just to make sure. I'm not small like I was years ago so hoping I shouldbe ok for a while. I'm stupid I know, I'm just not hungry anymore though.

My eating patterns are pretty erratic and I'm fat so clearly my diet is no good for me. I go from eating éclairs, crisps, buttery toast, buttery and cheesy jacket potatoes, chips etc to absolutely nothing. Not good =/
