It´s being very hard because I have finals next month and all I do is to self-pity because paranoias have come back and I see people crying when they see me, also I smell bad myself but people tell me I smell good... but the problem is I cant concentrate and I feel guilty because I`m intelligent and this sadness doesnt leave me to go ahead in university. I compare myself with others and they have so normal lives... Please someone can help me to study?
( sorry for my english, I`m from Spain)

Sorry you are having problems with depression. Finals must be a particularly stressful time for everyone. Have you been able to see a doctor to get some help with your sadness?

No, Therapy is long term and I dont want to take meds so I cant get any solution :(

I know it’s hard, but you have the rest of your life ahead of you. You want to get yourself in the best possible frame of mind, so you don’t suffer needlessly.
There are some things you can do for self help - videos to watch, books to read (workbooks on depression/paranoia are especially helpful). You can seek help from friends and family. You can make lifestyle changes - eat healthier, get exercise, sleep well.
If these things don’t help, I hope you reconsider seeing a doctor. They can tell you what would work best for you, but if therapy and/or medicine would help, it’s worth at least thinking about.

I eat healthy and I try to sleep enough. Some classmates told me I can count on them and I´d like to ask help. But what would they think if I say I see people crying when they see me? They would think I´m crazy, you know? when I have depression, paranoias and obsessions come too so for that reason I have to take medication but I dont want :(

Just wondering - why don’t you want to take medicine, if it turns out that is what would help you with these problems?

Because medicines dont leave me studying, make me choose bad decisions, I feel sleepy all day, usual mood swings and my personality changes...

So you do have a diagnosis, and have taken medicine for these problems, but you have bad side effects from the medicine? Have you told your doctor - maybe there is another medicine you can try.

But I dont want more medicines, I had bad experience :(

I know, and I understand. It took me going through five different medicines until I finally found the right combination and dosage. They either didn’t work, and/or had bad side effects. It’s really hard to do, especially when you are struggling.
But I’m sure you want to feel better, and sometimes medicine is the way. Talk to your doctor. Do they know you quit taking your prescription, and why?

You said there are other ways: exercise, enough sleep... I left them because I failed 6/10 subjects two years ago ( I had to study in Summer )And last year I didnt take meds and I passed all. So when I failed, I got annoyed with myself and I decided to leave the medication so I lied to doctor saying I was better...

Definitely medicine isn’t the only solution. It’s just one thing that can help. Are you doing well this year in your studies?

Your English is very fluent from what I can see and I relate though the circumstances might be a bit different, finals week is happening and there’s a lot of doctor and dentist appointments that I need to set up, problem is my horrid anxiety when it comes to talking to people on the phone or otherwise and even leaving the dorms.
