Got to go to the dentists in a bit, really not looking forward to it. I've not brushed my teeth properly in ages (can't stand anything that isn't food or drink going in my mouth) and I have lost a filling. I just know she is going to shout at me and get annoyed when she tried to put horrible pointy things in my mouth and squirm and don't let her. I'm sure when I come in she hates it, it's like dealing with a toddler :(

Oh Piglet, I'm just the same - had to go on Wednesday and I have to have three fillings - she said I could come on Thursday morning and I said can;t make it tomorrow (chicken). So I now have to wait til 23rd April. Hope it goes ok, will be thinking of you

I know it sounds bad but I actually can't wait until they all fall out and then I can get false ones. No more dentists and I can take them out to clean them.

Well, I'm back :)

It didn't go as badly as I thought it would, I only need to get that filling replaced and that's it. I have to go back in a week to get a pinned filling put in and if that holds maybe a crown later on. I'm going to be bricking it while at my next appointment (will involve drills and needles) but at lease I won't have to go back for another 6 months :)

Glad it went ok Piglet, I have to have refills too, but they involve needles, scared myself. Hope that the next appointment goes ok, a pinned filling sounds bad, not to make you worse sorry.

That's not too bad then Piglet! I had a crown last year, after I managed to break a tooth on a peanut M&M! My kids laughed at me while it was being done. I didn't find it funny, though!

I've got two crowns already so I know what to expect. Not got many of my own teeth left any more, they are all mostly filling and I'm missing most of the back ones :( This is what years of neglect and medication does to you. I've been thinking of trying one of those snap on smiles, they are basically verniers that slot on to the front of your teeth so it looks like you have perfect teeth. Will have to ask my dentist about it next app just in case my teeth are too damaged to hold them.

Hi Piglet, have you tried asking your dentist about "conscious sedation"? I read about it in this site (This is Dentistry) - it seems to involve some kind of sedative to help you relax, but you will be awake or conscious during the whole time the procedure is being done. I need to have my fillings replaced as well, and will ask my dentist about this conscious sedation so I do not spend the whole appointment in a panic attack

Hiya hun, yes I have been sedated very time I have had to have extensive work done (work on more than one tooth, an extraction, root canal). I have to say, it is good, you don't remember anything that has been done after :)

Hi Piglet, thanks a lot for the feedback! Now I'm even more convinced to ask my dentist about that sedation, maybe I can actually look forward to my dental appointments instead of making excuses not to go to the dentist's.
