I thought that I somehow stood out from the general public, and that people could see that and then talk about me and laugh at me. I thought they were out to get me because of my presence.

I don't think there was a reason for why people were out to get me. I think it was there just because I was ill.

I actually thought I had Autism, and that was the reason why people were out to get me. I believed that I was being targeted just because I had Autism. I now know that I do not have it. I have never been diagnosed with it by a psychiatrist.

What I really had was extreme stress, which triggered my Autism-like behavior and tendencies.

There are some groups on the web who help people with schizophrenia in the USA. I just typed in Schizophrenia outreach USA and up came quite a few. I think its worth having a look. Its not about getting rid of your beliefs, you have those strongly, but about living with them so they don't dominate your life.

And that lasted for that long? You are strong to have dealt with that for that long.

Hi Tvgirl Welcome to the forum. I live in the States too. I am not sure what type of resources you have where you are. But if you can reach out to a therapist and get help this would be good. You should not have to live in fear. We live in a safe Country.

My mom always watches the News and now she is so paranoia that someone is going to break into her house and she is 86 with no mental problems. The way social media is going it will have us all crazy at one point in our life. You are not alone in your fears-but that is what they are just fears.

I had to let go of my paranoia as it was causing severe problems at home with my child. I had weapons all over my house at one time and if anyone came over I made sure they seen them. I was so delusional my family intervened and took all my weapons away from me. So I know how you feel.

Since then I have become somewhat stable on meds and through therapy. I still become fearful at times. I just keep on living and wait for the fear to go away and does. Please get better for you and your children. Lots of hugs and love sent to you Jules

What made you paranoid? Did you hear people talking about you?
