I am just very unhappy in my own skin at the moment. I've just turned 40, I'm going through a workplace disciplinary where I may lose my job (it's been going on for 4 months now and is killing me) I've got a very stressful home life with four kids. No social life to speak of and I haven't got over the death of my sister in 2016. I feel useless and am worried about the future if I lose my job. I just want to run away and hide. I love my wife and kids but just have a cloud hanging over me. Please help me

Thank you both. I had three counselling sessions but I wasn't getting much out of them. I just feel broken at the moment.

A disciplinary lasting four months would wear anyone down, so don't beat yourself up about how it's making you feel. I'm not sure what help is available regarding this kind of thing but surely there must be an organization of some kind who can be of assistance, maybe even able to fight your corner on legalities? Four months seems like very unfair, drawn-out torture.

I'm so sorry, you sound under a lot of pressure. I'm sorry your sister died and that you're struggling with this loss, is understandable and you need some support with all of this.
Re the work disciplinary, have you had advice from ACAS? acas.org.uk They have a good reputation for offering free advice on work situations and their website holds a lot of information. There is also a helpline you can call for specific advice on your situation. Hope you have the support of your GP, call on them if you haven't already, you don't need to carry this all alone, although I know it feels you do x

I'm so sorry that you feel like this. Although you said counselling wasn't working, I'd suggest sticking with it a little longer to see the benefits. Have you spoken to your doctor about medication or maybe a different type of talking therapy that may benefit you? Also (not sure if you have already) but speak to your wife, that way she can support you emotionally xx
