I have been told that I look like a chimpanzee & that I should have plastic surgery, plus general insults/name-calling.

I hate the fact that some people think that if you express an opinion that is different to their's then that gives them the right to hurl abuse at you, I find some things some people say ridiculous - I either ignore them or tell them that I disagree & explain why.

Ignoring is often the best thing. Or better yet, take a hiatus from forums.

Still...it doesn't erase the fact that bullying or trolling was done to begin with. Unfortunately a lot of people on forums shouldn't even be there, imho. The ones that always have a hair-trigger and over-react, and yet dish it out and expect others not to react. And the ones who don't insult you personally, but insult a public figure who you might closely identify with because of gender, race, creed, nationality, political affiliation, religion, etc. In that case, you're obviously hurt and offended, but technically the poster didn't break the TOS. The bottom line is a lot of trolls and bullies have a visceral need to say and do whatever they want without reprisal, and therefore become proficient at finding ways to do exactly that. But bullies are popular, both in real life and on forums, and so they always stick around.

Cyber bullying

It is hard for anyone who involve in this kind of issues. Have you ever imagine, a person who live in a happy world suddenly turn into a person who scared and paranoid with everything. People who not comfortable being in the public trying to hide themselves by expose their feelings through online, but with this kind of problems, those people are not safe enough to confess everything. It is an actual pain as in my experience people keep on teasing me through social media, with a thousands of negative comment and it is really affect my life as I start to runaway from the society and hide myself from being exposed. :low: mental bullies is much more painful rather than physical. It will harm the person's life isn't?:cry:

I absolutely agree with you. I 100% can relate to your experience as social media makes me paranoid and phobia. Not only I can't social with people in the internet but it is also make me feel so hard and insecure in the real society as I feel like people are looking at me even though they are not. When I do I contact with people around me, I feel like all the things that they talk about me online haunting me for my whole life. Right now, I can't even open my social media to talk to my friends since I am too paranoid to face it. :panic::panic:

Hey Guys, I keep a copy of this on my desktop just for trolls on forums to quickly warn unsuspecting people:

Troll Stopper Paster

Do not try to engage trolls in a rational conversation. They’re agents of chaos — no more, no less. Trolls don’t troll to start an open-minded discourse about complicated issues; they exist solely to antagonize and start fights. Logic bounces off of them like rubber balls shot out of a potato gun. Trying to reason with a troll is a waste of time — yours, not theirs, because they obviously have little else to do. Don’t let yourself get sucked into the madness, just observe and occasionally marvel over it:
