I went out yesterday and spent my last $7 on a 1 liter bottle of cheap vodka. It would have cost me $6 for 4 beers and that would have have been gone last night, but I still have a little bit of vodka in the bottle. I plan on drinking it after I come back from seeing my doctor. I'm already wondering where I can get another bottle. I know myself and liqour. Once I start drinking liqour I cant stop. I'm gonna wind up in jail for begging for money in the streets, whatever it takes to get it. I was kidding myself that I could just stick to beer. The only way I can get buzzed on beer anymore is if I don't eat all day before drinking. The beer just isn't strong enough. Gotta quit boozing it all up all the time.

I didn’t drink for a year and a half... no problems, only very occasional temptation... then I had a beer and sudden I’m drinking a (single) beer every day for a bit of stress relief. Go figure. Alcohol is sneaky.

But my dad had his own brush with alcoholism a few years back, and since then the whole family has been quite alert to the danger, and we have been quite good supporting eachother in not drinking more than a single beer a day.

I can’t imagine drinking a whole bottle of vodka in one day... think what that must be doing to your liver dude. I used to drink whiskey but would rarely take more than a double.

Well its halloween. The stores are able to sell beer now cuz its past 7am. I'm sorely tempted to go get some. Surely the MH team if they even come by today would understand me celebrating the holiday. Ok maybe not. My favorite holiday of the year and I don't have a costume. I have the money to get hammered but then I wont be able to give out candy. Also I didn't sleep last night. If I drink now I'll be asleep all throughout. Maybe I'll get a beer around 8. Surely the kids will be done by then. Its a school night after all.

i still say i'd rather take alcohol than psychiatric meds, such is the stigma, sleeping pills i'd hate to be woken up from by someone banging on the door and i think i'd be more vulnerable going to the door

but yes i've got to be careful and even with me brewing home brew theres a cost

if i took sleeping pills the no and amount of pills could ballloon, i'm on enough as it is

as aa says an alky can always justify his habit

I like to make homebrew too. I haven't done it in quite a while though. I need to get my equipment from my sisters house. I have several 1 gallon fermenters, and one 6.5 gallon fermenter. I also have there my 20lb tank of CO2 and two 5 gallon kegs. One of my favorites is sparkling apple wine. I use 2 half gallon containers of "apple drink" for $1 each from walmart and I add a little dextrose to boost the alcohol content. The "apple drink" is only maybe 5% juice but it makes a real nice wine. I have also made watermelon, peach, and grape wine from "drink" juices. I made a really nice grape wine from welchs grape juice I got on sale but man o man it was strong. I added a lot of dextrose to it. It was probably close to 20% ABV. I also made a ginger beer once with real ginger and dry malt extract. I spaced on the recipe and added a pound of DME. I drank about half a gallon of it while playing call of duty and woke up in my chair with a hangover and a half. I later used an ABV calculator and discovered it was close to 30% ABV! No wonder I got so F'ed up on it.

I like beer, it makes me a jolly good fellow. I like beer it helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow.. . . . Whiskeys too rough, champagne costs too much and vodka puts my mouth in gear. This little refrain should help me explain, as a matter of fact I like beer. Last night I dreamed that I'd passed from the scene and I went to a place so sublime, all the water was clear and tasted like beer then they turned it all into wine. I like beer, it makes me a jolly good fellow I like beer it helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow. Whiskeys too rough, champagne costs too much and vodka puts my mouth in gear. Aww this little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact I love beer. - Tom T. Hall

OMG! The physical withdrawal symptoms have started. I haven't drank since Monday. Today my kidneys are screaming. Feel like I've been kicked in the back by a horse. Or maybe an elephant. Damn I hurt.

they were discussing the minimum alcohol price in scotland and the bbc said you can get a four pack for a pound, a 4 can pack of tescos lager is 2 75 in tesco express and 2 50 in the big tesco and it's not strong

just bought a heater for my 5 gallon fermenter and a airlock just in case england gets heavy, i find minimum pricing unfair as it efffects the poor more but the poor are seen as feckless

sounds like places when i looked at link were you need lots of money and have lots of money, totally different from addaction in cobold road which is paid for i think by the prison and probation office full of ex cons who've been referred as part of probation and does blood tests to check they're clean

then there was the place were they said to see them you had to be off alcohol for 24hrs when i said i had been off for 24hrs they said i didn't have an alcohol problem

last support worker who'd had alcohol issues said he'd never seen me drunk and as far as he was concerned i didn't have alcohol issues

sister said anyone who drinks 4 cans of beer and wine a night has an alcohol problem

free but with underlying pressure to go to one of the paid groups, it's only an issue if you can't afford it, thats the american way
