bipolar and a newbie

Hi all I have bipolarI i also self harm. its not a good thing to be admitting but i know im not the only one...

i self harm by bruising and battering to the point of bone breaking ive broken both my wrists but i have a high pain barrier..

im on lithium and my current dosage is 1200mg.... ive a blood test next week to see if it needs upping even tho i thought i was on the high dose...:grouphug:

Self harm may not be a good thing to do but it's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm both bipolar and a self harmer.

Re your lithium, 1200 mg may put you in the top end of the therapeutic range but it depends a lot on metabolism, weight etc.

Welcome to the forum - well done for being so open about your condition. It took me a while to 'come out' about my SH so good for you. I'm sure that you'll find loads of support here as there is a really friendly bunch of people in the forum.
