Hi, I’m 24 and I was diagnosed with anorexia when I was 17. I developed bulimia during my recovery process and once I became a healthy weight I was discharged. My bulimia became a binge eating/bulimia battle that is still ongoing today. I have been back to the doctors to try and get help but I am not considered sick enough for help. I have had a month last year when I was binge free and a few weeks this year but at the moment it feels constant and I can’t handle it anymore. I’d love some advice on what I should do. I feel like everything triggers me to binge eating and I am so worried about my health.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you are struggle at the moment, I do not myself suffer from anorexia or bulima, but do struggle to eat correctly and even at all sometimes, this also turns to the opposite side of just eating loads of everything.

I hope you find some specific advise as I'm unable to offer any. Do you take any medication at the moment? I find it unusual that the doctors do not determine you unwell enough to help, you can go again and TELL them you need help, I feel that they are obliged to put you onto a programme of support atleast.

Wish you the best,

Sam.

This is not true with ED's. Unless it is a doctor or place that truly has experience with ED's, they will tell her the same thing again.

Have you tried an ED clinic?
I haven’t tried an ED clinic. I have had therapy before when I was younger. I’m not sure if there are any in my area but it is something I should research. Thank you for your reply!

Hi there, no I don’t take any medication at the moment. I think because we have free health care in the Uk if you don’t look unwell they don’t see you as priority.
Thank you for your reply :)

Leanne, I would push to go to an eating disorder clinic. I know how GPs can be very dismissive about this. It is appalling to be deemed 'not ill enough'. I am posting the link to an eating disorder organisation if you would like any further help.
