Hi, I'm just trying to get an idea of how much it would cost to live on my own. How much is council tax after applying the council tax benefit, water, gas and electric. Thanks. I'm thinking of moving out so I can try the non medication approach.

hi seriouslydisturbed, unfortunately all these costs depends on the property so it is impossible to say really. maybe spend some time googling properties in your area and speak to people local to you about their bills. there might be a way of finding out local averages but im afraid i dont know it

Hi and good for you for Reaching for Independence

These things are a lot more expensive than most folk give them credit for HOWEVER most of it depends on Where You Live rather than How you live.

As far as surviving in Modern UK on a Benefit? I dunno - the tv shows make it look like a cash cow doddle but Reality is probably not quite so jolly.

Australia - I do not know how people on benefits survive, I really don't.

Im on one and I survive because I was lucky enough to be born with the heart and soul of a Scottish Pawnbroker and can literally live on the smell of an Oily Rag

Also my career was in Finance so know the Tricks and Threats.

The No.1 area most people waste money is FOOD.

I can look at a family budget and find them hundreds of dollars just by a few simple diet changes.

A baked potato instead of Macdonalds. Its 1/30th of the price and 100x better for you.
