I was diagnosed BiPolar about 8 years ago and have tried alot of different medications, but am currently on Lithium, Duloxitine, Lamotrigne and Pregablin (which is the most recent addition to my cocktail).

Even before I started on the Pregablin I started hearing things - not always voices, but a repetative noise and sometimes repeated sections of songs. Its not just the words its the full music. But lately this has got considerably worse - louder and all day, including affecting my ability to get to sleep. I also find it hard to hear people talking to me because of the noise in my head.

Its not tinnitus - I have that ringing/buzzing in my left ear as well due to partial hearing loss.

Has anyone else had similar experiences, are the sounds related to the BiPolar?

How do you manage it?

I'm a voice hearer and my voice sings a lot too, full music and not just words like you described.

I know you're not psychotic but an anti-psychotic will reduce the volume of the noise by as much as 95%, well worth asking your doctor about.

I hear telephone's ringing that wake me up; the telephones are not really there. When I was a kid I heard whole complete symphonies.

Thank you all for your replies.

I recently spoke to my Psyc Doc and told him about the noises. He was only worried about whether the noises were voices that were telling me to harm/kill myself or someone else. I had a similar reaction from GP. Maybe I should have said they did lol.

About the only odd noises I have heard sounded like an Alarm, but I'm sure I wasn't hearing something that wasnt actually there

You see I work in a factory and they have alarms, it just wasn't something I could see anywhere near me, but that doesn't mean that there wasnt an alarm somewhere in the factory.

Idk why but it seems like sometimes my hearing is sharper than normal, but it always seems to pass
