Hi,
Something I have been trying to avoid because of anxiety for one, is all this change in October.

I am long term sick. I have been not been able to work since 1989 and even that was for a short period. Before that I lost jobs because of the illness e.t.c. Life has been quiet that way for years and I need it that way!

I have had a search but can't really find anything about my situation.

So in October, what happens to people like myself..who can't even really get out of the house? Will this new act include people like myself? or will they leave me alone?!..or will I have to meet some patronizing DSS doctor e.t.c.?

...I could do with all this anxiety!

Thanks.

The new "Employment & Support Allowance" will only apply to new claimants at first. The government plans to migrate everyone who is currently on IB over to the new system over the next five years.

Yes, that's what I read, so the change in October only affects new applicants. Hope that this makes you feel a little less anxious!

The Disability Alliance has quite a good page just running through all of the forthcoming changes in date order. http://www.disabilityalliance.org/index.htm

Hi,

The IB reforms will not affect current claimants for some time as it's a 5 years implementation process.
I had a IB review a couple of months ago which was fine and they've informed me that it won't be reviewed again until 2013.
