Has anyone had a belief crisis?
Meaning I been going to therapy and I discovered all my beliefs I got from was from my highly suspicious parents.

Now I don't know what to believe in.

My family has used the beliefs to put fear in me to control me. For example I been doing mindfulness because it was suggested by my T. Its been helping and they think its some "demonic evil spirits" or they can sense its bad and feel it down there back.

I'm a Christian but I think some of my beliefs before were unnecessary. I think I was trying too hard when I didn't have to. And then there's the bewilderment of going through a psychotic episode filled with spiritual things.

Your parents may not trust CBT but hopefully, they care more about your wellbeing. If they see you continue to get better, I'm they'll probably be okay.

It's understandable that we are heavily influenced by, and even fully take on, our parents' belief systems, both in terms of how we think about them intellectually, and how we experience them emotionally :)

Your parents are entitled to their belief system, and their feelings. But you are also entitled to yours. If you want to do things differently, and explore other ideas and thoughts, then you can.

Good luck with it all. Come back to the forum if you like, and tell us how it's going, and we will support you if we can :)

My parents are like that too. Especially my mom! Just don't listen to them. Do what makes you feel better. Since they are controlling you, move the f*** out of that hell hole. I'm so infinitely happy I moved away from under my abusive mothers thumb!!! Phew. Talk about crazy!?

I don't think mindfulness is even that good. It definitely doesn't have the kind of power that 'evil' does.
