Does this happen to anyone else? I feel like because I havent been hospitalized my situation is brushed under the carpet. Surely the fact that I feel this way and do the things I do is serious enough. Am i being selfish. Are there people worse off

True, i dont know how to explain this, but i think as long as you are trying to live a normal life no matter how bad you feel people don't take it seriously. I felt this way for a long time and then i was hospitalised. Suddenly i started to feel that people are talking it seriously and that my problems really exist

Unfortunately it does appear you have to do something stupid to get any help.
Always said that the NHS don't care unless you are standing on a bridge.
If it was a physical illness they wouldn't wait and ignore the symptoms

Go private if you can, exaggerate your symptoms if you can't.

Who is not taking you seriously? I don't know much about the NHS (American) but can you badger them until they do?

IMO sadly people with BPD don't get taken seriously by the NHS. This is due to ingrained negativity towards the diagnosis.

You clearly do need help and it would be no exaggeration to say that you are struggling. But asserting your position is the only way to get ahead in the NHS. The ones that are ahead of you are simply those who have already done this.

My apologies, standing on the edge is no longer enough to get help.
Headline in the Manchester Evening News
'My son's friends pulled him off a [Moderation] at 2am - and we're STILL struggling to get help for his mental health'
