Please take it from one who knows, you can get help and guidance for that. Go for it. In response to the last reply which frankly is scaremongering apply for UC as it is the only avenue available at the minute. No-one is going to sanction you and make you go to work immediately, the JCP have very good workcoaches that help a lot of people. The tv posts a lot of shit about what the do not the positive work. Again if you need extra help message me and don't listen to the people who don't know x

t,he above is not me or my friends experience of the dwp, wonder sometimes if tory and labour party activists post on various forums pushing the party lines

whether or not they are likely to sanction you or the dwp have good work coackes the basic jsa, or universal credit regime doesn't pay enough and isn't intended for long term living

Tory activist posting here? I don't think so. I am sure they have better things to do than lurk around a mental health forum pushing a back to work agenda.

And the nightmare continues.... So I am now on UC JSA, and ive been trying to backdate the claim to the date i was cut off, as i didnt sign on to UC right away as I was told not to by the DWP staff... To wait for the final decision on my ESA.

Only now that backdate has been declined because being told by there staff NOT to sign on isnt a valid reason for backdating... What the FUCK.... Again Im fucking fuming I ended up screaming **** at them on the phone. The women on the other end was utterly uncaring about the situation and simply told me "I must follow the rules" FUKING CUNTING EVIL BITCH! i cant believe im dealing this this level of utter fucking evil

Ive calmed down now... But im not going to edit or delete my last post as I think it should be on record how DWPs culture is causing harm... My outburst is a result of the DWP staffs belligerence and indifference and how they treat people with mental health....

Genuinely I have not felt that enraged in a very long time. I nearly crushed my phone in my hand and threw it across the room... What triggered me the most was when they told me that I must follow the rules...

Like I've been some naughty schoolboy and being told off, when the ONLY reason I had to backdate was because THEY told me not to claim UC right away, and to wait for the mandatory revaluation to be done first.

You don't have to do anything to go through the process apart from completing the form. And you can get a new sick when you go on UC, just believe me I know this. Any problems let me know.x

This is devastating news and you are right to be angry. It seems the only way to get esa is to lie and pretend you sit in a chair all day staring at a wall, not washing or eating. This is almost what i say, and yet my life is like yours and my work skills similar. The first person you spoke to probably hates their job. It doesn't sound like a fun job to have.

You can ask for a mandatory reconsideration i think, and then appeal. You must do this, and must now lie, i believe. If you can get any further evidence, new evidence, medication increases, even if you lie to your doctor to get it and not take it, you must do this. It isn't right but it seems the only way.

That's just it...

That's what I think they did with me.... I can ride a motorbike.. So I must be able to ride to work.... So I'm fit for work then right?

This is why I think they have utterly no comprehension what mental health is or means.
I was driving a car when i got my esa support group so this should not be used as an excuse you are fit for work.

according to torys like ian duncan smith and other politicians both tory and labour you'd be better off in work, thats probably the institutional culture at dwp offices as well
