Hello there. My name is Lewis and I'm 18 years old.

It's been since the age of 6 I knew I had something 'not normal, different from others'. Basically this is my disorder. I tend to do things an even number of times. For example, if I switch off the light, I have to do it 2, or 4, or 6, or 8, or even 10 times. Or like if I brush my teeth, do it an even number of times. If I do it an odd number of times, I mostlikely go crazy. I have been then, at the age of 10, diagnosed with OCD as my parents noticed that I wasn't mentally stable at all. Then the psychologists told me that I should only try to refrain from doing so by trying to 'self-control myself', but trust me, it's not always as easy at it seems sometimes. I have been prescripted - at the tender age of 14 - a few antidepressants to not fall in depression, or either have suicidal thoughts, even though I'm quite of depressed right now anyways.

hi Capaldi :welcome: !

I have had such things, less so now
I dont like things to go anti clockwise
but the obsession with it is more mild now
I can trace that to a boyfriend relationship had in my twenties

you might find people here can help you solve it
or that they can help you find the right treatment
its also lots of fun here !

It is very nice to know that I'm alone! Yes, I feel aswell that like uhh, anti-clockwise things, odd numbers, left direction and so far are 'imperfect', therefore have to be somehow 'fixed'. I remember once I was desperately crying at the age of 10 because I could not stop checking if the door was locked (even though I knew it was not my duty, but my parent's one to do so) an even number of times, and even if I reached like 4 or 6 times, I wanted to continue to a bigger even number. I even felt in depression for that. I feel like 'awkward, weird' and when I (rarely tbh) tell these things to people, I feel like observed and like 'uhh, yeah this man's got to be sent to a mental hospital with no exit'. But fortunately it seems I'm not alone, and once again-that's very good to know :').

n yeah they would not send you to hospital for that
and they are short of beds !
hospital is more for people who have done terrible things to themselves

these issues are more common than you might think
people in all walks of life have them
you walk into a staff bath room
and there is someone frantically brushing their teeth for instance

I'm tempted to analyse your issues
but I'm really not qualified !

probably someone else can do it better than me !
