Hello all, I received a letter from Atos saying that the DWP have sent them my application form for PIP.

Does anyone know what the next stage in my process will be, will I be called for an assessment with Atos?

Yes, you will most likely have to attend an appointment with Atos.
I haven't had much experience with applying for PIP (though have with ESA).
But I know some members here have gone to Atos for a PIP assessment.

I can say pretty much for sure though that you will probably be called in for an appointment. x

You may be interested to know the news just in from the benefits and work website is that PIP claims are building up and this has amounted to delays and a huge backlog of claims to process. Because of this ATOS have been instructed to increase the amount of claims assessed just by paper means at the moment 75% of claims have to be followed up by a medical assessment and 25% just assessed via paper claim forms and telephone interviews, the instructions from DWP are to increase the amount of these paper assessments so more people will be assessed without having to do the medicals, how may more n percentage terms is not know yet.So you may be one of the lucky ones that doesn't have to have the medical. However whether that means you can be failed just on a paper assessment I don't know and presumably any appeal of that would involve the necessity of a medical in addition to the paper claim. The whole switch over is being badly organized and implemented and there are a lot of complications.

Yes I read that, some people have been waiting months and months to find out if they are entitled, I've been waiting 7 but that is nothing compared to many.

I am of the thinking that if you are called for the a medical then there is a likely chance you will fail, I think those who poke ATOS in the eyes with their conditions with pass the paper exam, the rest of us, well it will be like a lottery.

Thank you to everyone for the replies. I originally applied in January and have only just had a reply and it was the letter from Atos.

I'm hoping I will be one of the lucky ones and not get called for an assessment.

Good luck flowergirl I wish you all the best in your assessment.

That information is great news, I'm hoping I will not be called for an assessment. I was lucky with my ESA I got put in the support group without being called in by Atos.
