Aside from the obvious: see your doctor for a medication discussion

HAVE A BATH! the warm water feels so nice. You will not regret it.

Eat a good meal. If you cannot cook, muesli and cold milk is amazing.

Go for a short walk in the morning. Coat on, hood up, get some air.

If you feel better, play some music quietly in the evening. Maybe even a small glass of wine.

Get a cat, they really help.

But Have that bath! Clean nightclothes

Clean pillowcase if you can

These are the tips that are always advised.
But how can you manage them when you can hardly scrape
yourself out of bed.
Or haven’t the energy to move around the house.

I’m not belittling you Tawny.
These are superb actions.

I’m just remembering what I was like when so severely depressed.

Counsellors would say “the first thing you must do is get up and
have a shower”

If I’d had the energy I would have screamed at them.

It was all I could do some days was wash my face and clean my teeth.

Thank you for these suggestions though, for when we realise we
are actually alive.

I'm currently between 2 and 3 on the scale and luckily the evenings are easier. I was in and out of bed until 2pm roughly which isn't too bad is it. It is still the worst day i have had so far this month and i am worried. I was ordered to have a bath this evening ;)

I think when depression is severe, if there is someone that can run a bath for you, that really helps. I still was bathing when at 0 only because someone was there helping me, washing my hair for me whilst sitting in the bath. In hospital was the same, mum would come and see my in the evening and take me for a bath on the ward. Again, the evenings are easier so i am lucky with that.

It used to annoy me too by the way, being told to do these things. What we all need is someone telling us to do it, right there and then. Preferably someone in our home, getting the towels ready and clean nightclothes on the bed.

I do tend to lay in bed and i forget about the bath. I forget how nice it feels and i needed to be told to have a bath, right now, turn the telly off and have a bath, you will feel better and so on. So, i did. I wanted to pass that order on :)

That’s absolutely true Tawny.
We do need someone to be there at the time to give
physical and emotional help.

Someone who says your hair needs washing, they run
the water, get the shampoo etc and physically help.

I’ve never had that.

I’m sorry you’re depression is so bad at the moment.
I can understand why you are worried.
We never know which way we are going to go.
Up or down.

Thank you for for enclosing the scale but mostly
for your understanding.

I hope you start to feel better soon.🙂

I'm sorry. If it helps, she runs the bath but also makes me very sad much of the time. Bad comes with good.
