I don't think that there is a lot that can be done - But apparently having a shower alleviates the condition; albeit temporarily. Something to do with the sound/pressure of the water.

Have you run some Google searches?

There are devices that can cancel or mask out the ringing with certain sounds & vibrations. But I am not up on this stuff.

thanks for the link apotheosis,i have google & read all i can on it but i just thort maybe someone ealse with the same problem as me has some special way of dealing with it,mine has seemed to have gotten loader in the last year or so,it becomes even loader if i drink alcohol or smoke pot & even if i drink a cup of coffee.

my doc did not sound to worried about it  i told them and all they said is you will get used to it,they have not given me any test or anything for it,i think i got to go find a new doc soon,i am sure they do not even care about me at all

I get it read somewhere it can be caused by the ssri meds, probably doesn't help using ear plugs that cause wax to build up, i find getting my ears syringed can help as can washing them often.

Sometimes i wonder whether that constant drum beat is due to neighbours playing music

Don't know where it lies on the hearing voices spectrum

hey ramboghettouk thanks for poping in,its not my ears they are as clear as a bell, its deep in my head & i no its my brain,i do not hear any voices at all,i have never heard anything like that.

i did not have it untill i woke up after my head had been jump on,i told the hospital at the time & they said its common after this sort of head injury & that it will go in time, well its been 4 years now & i still got it :mad:

well i have voices also

its really hard to explain the noise NMW, its a high pitch nose that can be quite piercing but also i have a duller one that sounds like a bee buzzing, i was convince that we had one in the bedroom one time, got OH to check everywhere because i could hear it.

im lucky i dont have it all the time but at night it can be there to the point i dont fall asleep sometimes

if you have it all the time then they really need to be helping you as i couldnt cope with that especially when its from a head injury and not like mine with me blasting my ear drums with loud music, as mines self inflicted :(

hell i dont mind talking about it, had it since a child, can hear them clearly, doesnt happened all the time but can be loud. when i was younger they would tell me to do things. i never told anyone though, god they would of put me away

sounds funny when i tell the stories but once time i had to flood the house, i turned all the taps on and plugged the sinks, and the feeling was if i didnt do it i would die i was dragged out the bathroom screaming, quite scary, still dont know why i get them

been told it could be stress, who knows :p

Yes I have got a continual high pitched whine in my ears, drives me ,dare I say, mad!
The doctor has said he will refer me to an ENT specialist, but I tend to think it's the meds.

my husband has had this condition for over 10 years. he takes ginko biloba, 60mg twice daily he swears by it and cannot do without it. it prevents the giddyness linked to menierres syndrome.
