I can't take the negativity and anxiety anymore. When it comes to health, job opportunities, and education. I assume nothing good would happen. I assume the worst. Especially health. I get stomach pain from bad food and I assume I am dying. I freak out. I cry. I call family, friends, boyfriend to feel better. They are getting sick of it. I know. I get blood tests every month to make sure I am not dying or have a new disease. The funny thing is nothing bad ever shows up. I can't take it anymore.

I try to get further in life when it comes to a career, I don't believe anything good would happen. I am trying to go back to school to be a physical therapist and a voice inside me tells me 'you can't do it' and 'you need to do 8 years, do you really want to start your career at 37, you would never last'. Physical therapy and helping people makes me so happy. I wish I was more positive. I don't believe anything good would happen. The fear stops me from even trying. I am 29 years old and I have hardly no time till I am 30.. the big 30... and I am scared i would never have a career. I work a shitty job that I don't enjoy. I just want to be happy with a career. I don't want to be in my 30s with nothing going for myself

I can't live like this anymore :( help!

I’m ready to stop negative thinking. Still don’t know how. But I’m ready.

I don’t think 37 is too old to start a career. There is still a lot of life left after 37. I hope you got to school.

Go for it @Amelia2020. 37 is not too late to start a career and it sounds like Physical Therapy is something you'd really enjoy. 8 years sounds a long time, but it is doable. What have you got to lose, it sounds like you are not enjoying your current job anyway. You can do it!

I notice that you haven't mentioned medication to combat your anxiety. Is this a personal choice? I'm living proof of one who finally decided to seek outside help; I needed to turn my irrational worry into the kinds of concerns most 'normal' people might care about, without going insane. If you are willing to devote 6-8 weeks of your time, that's the time these meds take to fix a base level in your brain, then speak to your doctor and tell him/her you want to make a change in your life. Just the fact that you admit openly your desire for change will help you feeling better. Believe me, it is a great first step.

I am scared of side effects of medication and don't trust mental health doctors. I am a talkative person, but i don't know how to find someone I would feel comfortable sharing personal information with.

Negative thinking is my speciality. I even know where I got it from. My parents had it, each in different forms.

For my mum, the world was always a threatening place, where disaster was just around the corner, and could only be postponed or fended-off by being perfect in everything you do.

For my dad, the world as it is was irremediably flawed, even downright evil, and everything needed to be destroyed, torn down and rebuilt from scratch.

I can't really shake off either of those viewpoints.

30 is very young. Lifelong learning. I am still learning and am middle aged and have learnt more in the past 7 years than at any other time in my life. Negative thinking can be a form of OCD they are called ANTs. Your brain gets used to it. So change the narrative. Flip it and put a positive spin on everything and in time you can create new neural pathways by. Check out the ABC and REBT models (Ellis and Windy Dryden CBT book. I use the model for everything and it has been life changing and helps me to see patterns to change my negative thinking, obsessive rumination, obsession with the past which prevents me from enjoying life now. It takes commitment, ten minutes morning and night. Not dwelling too much on the negativity more about finding solutions.

I am. I am tired of being an idiot who behaves like he is in his deathbed everyday (Deathhammock, deathbeds are for fools).
