Is it just me who have some songs that trigger my anxiety?

Songs that used to be so good, but now they give me anxiety waves. The memories behind it...

If you have similar experience, please share.
And what songs do you listen to, to deal with the feelings?

Oh yeah.

I had a noisy neighbour for roughly three years. He'd play the same six songs really loud up to three times a night each. He did that twice a week and it happened all year round. I lost A LOT of sleep and had really, really bad anxiety before and whenever the music started.

The songs were played in order but not always. He usually focused on a particular song or two or three. Shotgun by George Ezra was his absolute favourite because he also sang along to it. That was played so much. I can't listen to it at all without being triggered even though the noisy neighbour has gone away now.

Your neighbor was such an ass, no one should be losing sleep and endure 3 years of great disturbance like that 😫

I blocked my triggering songs on Spotify.

My great anxiety comes from Taylor Swift’s song - Lovers and Cornelia Street.

Such a shame bcs both are great songs and I used to love them. But they just reminded me of the times spent with my boyfriend when we were living in the UK, all good memories that happen in a totally different situation than we’re in right now.

Now everytime I heard these songs, I would get very sad and anxious

never never land
I had songs that triggered psychotic thoughts. Even years later I usually turn them off because they induce uncomfortable emotions.

Katy Perries Roar is one of them. Along with a few adele songs the one that goes "I am going to make your head burn."

Because I believed I had a vengeful lover from a past life in my head.

I beat that delusion, but frequently i avoid those songs

Ass is a polite way to describe him. :) Sometimes I'd hear the songs when I woke up. Also... The local authority in charge of dealing with noise complaints were the bigger problem. A much bigger problem that's a whole different story for another thread. Long story short, they never punished him and allowed my long term health to deteriorate.

I'm still trying to cope with different anxiety related issues triggered by the long term noise and sleep deprivation such as face eczema. I'm glad that I don't hear those songs anymore though. I didn't have control over my home life and bedtime.
