I live in the uk. I am finding it very difficult to go out, I've not been diagnosed as agoraphobia but it feels like I have it. I seem not to be the person I once was.
To be honest it feels like I have give up a long time ago, I know you shouldn't.
My days are boring as hell, I go out if absolutely necessary. Then I am rushing to get home again. I know this is not a way to go on. I have depression. And generalized anxiety disorder. I've been like this now for just over a year,. Have I given into this ? Yes probably I have it's taken over. I've asked for help,. hoping to get appointment for CBT. Will it work I not no. I am struggling daily. I do grocery shopping on line. Everyday same. It is terrible situation, I now having a panic attack just to nip over to the shop less than 10 minutes away. Any advice kitty.

Hi Kitty kat,

I would enquire about Pregabalin for anxiety, I am taking that now, twice a day, and it works wonders, this is a marvellous drug for anxiety conditions. I woudl ask your GP about this.

Best wishes.

it is a dilemma, I have a fear of the outside, only happy in the evening/nighttime when everything calms down & in my room until I have to leave go to work do things in the morning. The thing that's worked for me the most is intense rational & positive thinking, & learning relaxing behaviour, time goes so slowly when you're anxious, so it can take an incredible amount of patience.

The thing with social anxiety is that people often focus on the lack of action part of it. If you tried to will yourself to go outside, then maybe you need another approach. If your gut tells you you have to reflect on the deeper reasons on why this is happening to you emotionally, then reflect. The blog has a good article on the 100 things to write to start with journaling well. If you’re too afraid to ask for help, maybe start with helping yourself with journaling prompts you can find online.

Eventually you can get the courage to ask for help after.
