Hi Everyone,

For some reason i am really afraid to get pregnant or being pregnant, even though i have an iud and all pregnancy test i have taken are negative. I am still so worried i might be pregnant and that a baby will pop out of my any second. I have no symptoms, no belly and even the doctor said i am not pregnant since the tests are negative. But for some reason i just can't stop the worrying and anxiety. It is so irrational i know, but i am just really not prepared to be a mom. I keep thinking what if? It is getting so annoying, since it is ruining my everyday life. I am experiencing some stomach aches and it triggers the anxiety a lot. Has anyone experienced this or something similar? What helped you? Just any tips would be appreciated! It already helps just typing this here :)

It seems like your fear is just so elevated that your body is starting to react negatively. A lot of the time, our anxieties affect our bodies and can cause things like headaches and muscle tension, along with many other symptoms. I also worry obsessively (not about pregnancy), and I've found that slowing down and taking care of my everyday stressors helps minimize my biggest fears/anxieties. I also have an IUD (the copper one), and I've noticed that my anxiety and emotions have been all over the place during the first year of having it, although I'm not sure if that can all be attributed to the IUD itself. I'm wondering if you may be experiencing something similar, even if you have a hormonal IUD instead of the copper one. It's possible! You're definitely not alone. Keep writing!

What you have is called tokophobia. You can google it to see what it is. I don’t know how much this effects your everyday life but if it causes you severe anxiety you should go to a specialist and talk about it.
