Hi Rexie. I was on Citalopram last year and indeed the first week or two are rough, side effects for me were headaches, dry mouth, joint pain, sweating (which started every day at 3pm whatever that's about) and VERY vivid dreams (got around this by taking them 1st thing in the morning) despite this I would take them again if I needed them.

Like yourself a viral ear infection sent me into my downward spiral, did you know it can take upwards of 7 months to physically recover?

It's funny reading your post because it's so similar to my experience I could have written it myself.

Anyway stay strong I'm here 4u if u need to talk. :)
Hi PaddyWhack. I finally plucked up the courage to take citalopram this morning and I feel AWFUL :( I am so scared. I can’t sit still and haven’t relaxed all day. I’m now in bed and can’t relax or sleep. I feel like I’ve gone mad. I don’t know what to do.

Thanks for the reply, I decided the same thing yesterday, I’m going to drop the whole artery thing and be thankful that they are doing the MRI. I feel like if I keep bringing up different things they won’t take me seriously anymore. I’m on Lexapro at the moment, it’s only been four days and I am noticing a difference. Still getting the anxiety at different stages throughout the day and night but breaks in between where I feel like my old self. Little bit of nausea the first few days but I kept telling myself that I knew that was a symptom of the pills and nothing else

Which dosage are you on? You need to stick with it for a couple of weeks Rexie and I'm certain things will get better for you. I remember starting them and things getting worse before they got better, I read and re-read the advice leaflet that came with them.

Its important you keep yourself well hydrated with them too, I hope you got a decent sleep last night.

Thank you. 10mg. I’m suicidal. I am going to my GP this morning. I’ve not slept all night. I don’t think I can carry on with them. I’ve only taken one and I feel so so so awful.

Aw Rexie I really feel for you. Your GP will be best placed to gague if they aren't suitable. Make sure you tell him how you feel.

I'm very sorry to hear your unwell Rexie, I would say the most important thing for you now is to acknowledge that your vertigo causes major anxiety and realise that when it comes on.

It's been over a year now since I started getting my vertigo and I would say it's about 40% of what it was at its worst. I'm not taking any meds as I found them unhelpful apart from pseudoephedrine but I'm going in for a MRI on Monday so hopefully that will show I'm not crazy lol.

I think I mentioned before to you but when I seen the ENT specialist he told me it can take a long time to recover (seven months) and there can be lasting effects.

Have you tried pseudoephedrine 60mg? You can ask the pharmacist for these over the counter and I found they helped me a bit with my balance. They have side effects after a while tho so I would say take them as and when.

I know what your going through atm but believe me it WILL get better so I'll leave you with a Winston Churchill quote "When your going through hell keep going"

Hi I had something called PPBV which was terrible and frightening after going swimming. So I still have problems with my ears. It’s when the crystals in your ears go out of place and effects your balance etc
