Hi, does anyone feel a lot more anxious in the morning or when they wake up?

I do, and I don’t know why this is...
I wake up feeling anxious very often. Sometimes I wake up having a panic attack, sometimes everything is irritating me when I wake up and I'm feeling down and rejected by the world immediately when I wake up.

I feel dreadful anxiety and depression when I wake up.
I can’t imagine how I am going to face the day.

My heart pounds, racing thoughts,
rumination etc.

On occasions I have woken up with the thoughts
“I just want to die”
Things often improve as the day progresses but sometimes
my mood swings take over again.

I will go back to bed during the day, but that just sets the
whole sequence off again.

I feel dreadful anxiety and depression often when I wake up too, and I often think how I'm going to face the day, too. Sometimes I have those same thoughts when I wake up. I understand.

I usually wake about 3 really anxious and then it lasts all day. How do we stop it from happening or is it the way we are. Any ideas would be welcome

Yep its a scientific fact that stress hormones (cortisol) are at their worst in the mornings.
The other gig is that our metabolic rate - the speed at which the body creates new cells for energy - is at its lowest.

So what to do about it? Recognize the above will help. I've also heard that you should move your bed and furniture around once every so often so that you don't have the same crack in the ceiling attracting your gaze every morning.

If you wake up early and can't get back to sleep, making yourself a hot drink and maybe watching a bit of TV is probably better.

Been there myself and know how horrible it is.

I've been going through a bunch of anxiety/depressive/stressed-out episodes recently and I can confirm that within the first few hours of waking up is when I am mostly prone to anxiety (due to cortisol levels as was mentioned by violet). My sleeping pattern has also been pretty hectic recently (waking up at 10pm and going to bed around 11am - 12pm). I start feeling better a few hours before going bed. I've also noticed when I am sleep deprived, I am too tired to think about being anxious or depressed so to some extent it helps me out. But I've also heard sleep deprivation can worsen anxiety in the long run. I am not too sure, I suppose everyone is different.

As of right now, I've been anxious about a plethra of things, virtually all of which are completely irrational. And even though I know they're irrational, I still feel anxious about them. It's almost like every day/every time I wake up, it feels like I am actively seeking for something to be anxious about it (i.e a mark in my cupboard, a cut in my teddy bear, the noise of my PC as well other electronics, a bug in a video game heck even something normal in a video game such as the look and feel of it). When I wake up and am prone to anxiety, I tend to overtly think and question things all the time even though I would've never gave them a second thought 2-3+ years ago, when I was younger (I am now 20).

If it's any constellation. I was feeling pretty calm for the most part yesterday, and then I headed to sleep. I just woke up about half an hour ago and I'm feeling a lot more shaky than usual, despite the lack of stimuli to make me feel anxious in the first place. Again my sleeping pattern has been quite erratic recently since it's like 1 in the morning where I am lol. I've finally got 2 and a half weeks off of college now, so I'm fine with going to bed whenever I want haha.
